NEW YORK CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
Flowmaster® offers both USEPA and CARB compliant converters. Converters for New York applications must be installed in accordance with the application information provided.
The State of New York has now adopted the California standards for new AMCC’s (Aftermarket Catalytic Converters), under 6NYCRR 218. Beginning January 1, 2014, replacement catalytic converters must either be original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, or new aftermarket replacement converters certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). CARB certified converters can be identified an Executive Order (EO) number printed directly on the converter, as well as the packaging. This new requirement applies to all model year 1993, 1994, 1996 and newer vehicles that were manufactured under 50-State or California emissions certification. New aftermarket replacement converters certified as meeting EPA’s basic emission standards may still be installed on some vehelice applications. Any 1995 model year vehicle, and any 1992 model year or earlier vehicle. And Any model year vehicle that was manufactured under EPA or Federal certification, but not California or 50- State certification. This important vehicle data is located on the emissions sticker that is located in the engine compartment.
