Replacing the OEM muffler alone will show performance improvements however you will still be limited by the OEM tubing sizes and the bland appearance associated with cost-sensitive manufacturing.

When designing custom exhaust systems for vehicles, Flowmaster takes the time to engineer and tune each vehicles exhaust system for optimum power gains, fuel efficiency and desirable sound levels. During kit development, each specific vehicle goes through a rigorous design process, including;

•  Choosing the proper tubing sizes.

•  Choosing the optimum tubing bend paths.

•  Incorporating the use of Scavenger collectors and /or other technologies (when applicable) for maximum performance and efficiency.

•  The proper selection of a muffler, or mufflers, deigned for both optimal performance gains and interior/exterior sound levels for a specific vehicle.

•  The appearance of the exhaust exit location/s and the style of the exhaust tip/s designed to give each vehicle that custom look.

It is not unusual for Flowmasters "Research & Development" department to go to extremes to design a completely new series of muffler specifically for an application to achieve the necessary performance gains and sound that meets Flowmasters high standards of quality. An example is Flowmaster's new 2005 Mustang GT exhaust system. Rather than delievering an inferior product by throwing a bunch of parts together in an attempt to be first-to-market we took our time to develop a kit that, as a tuned system, delivers proven performance and undeniable Flowmaster sound.
