Mufflers Accessories Kits Race New Products

Flowmaster not only uses real-time track and highway testing but uses its own SuperFlow dynomometer and other sophisticated data collection systems including a Bruel & Kjaer real-time spectrum analyzer which are all utilized for muffler and exhaust system research and development. Not only can the analyzer be used to measure sound levels, it can also be used to fine-tune exhaust tone and locate unwanted vehicle interior resonance sources.

The SuperFlow SF-7100 Engine test system is a water brake engine dynamometer designed for endurance and performance testing. The brake will absorb up to 2000 lb-ft of torque! The computer-controlled system will record up to 50 separate channels of data each dyno pull. We use our engine dyno for engine and muffler development. Also, the endurance testing capabilities of the dyno are put to the test trying to break our mufflers.

In addition to our SuperFlow engine dyno, we have added a SuperFlow SF-840 chassis dyno to our R & D arsenal. The SF-840 is an Inertial type chassis dyno with the addition of dual computer controlled Eddy Current electric brakes. With the addition of the Eddy Current brakes we have the ability to hold a vehicle speed steady with power levels up to 1000 hp at the rear wheels, and a 200 mph top speed of the dyno! Also, the SF-840computer system has over 60 channels of data taking capabilities. This allows us during our exhaust system development to map pressures and temperatures on the vehicle during the testing. The two dynos are just a small part of the R&D package you get when you purchase Flowmaster products.
