DHRA - Diesel Hot Rod Association

What Are We?

The DHRA is a diesel motorsports sanctioning body. We are an NHRA-approved alternate sanctioning organization. We work with both NHRA and the SFI Foundation when developing our rules to ensure, as much as is reasonably possible, the safety of our competitors, fans and sponsors.

What Do We Do?

The DHRA organizes drag racing and sled pulling competitive events. These events include member track bracket drag racing series, our sportsman sled pulling series, our national Pro Diesel Shootout series, and national events. The national events combine sled pulling, drag racing, dynamometer and burn-out competitions and a vendor fairway; these events bring diesel competitors, fans and vendors/manufacturers together in one place.

What Can You Do With Us?

As stated above, there's room in the DHRA for every dieselhead; competitors, fans, crew members, vendors and manufacturers will all find a place for themselves.

So what is it about the DHRA Diesel Nationals that will make them so successful? They combine professional competition drag racing, professional competition sled pulling, dynamometer testing, a show-n-shine competition and a vendor's midway all in a single location. The events are all about diesel motorsports - gathering diesel competitors, fans, vendors, manufacturers and general motorsport enthusiasts in one place. Only diesel-powered vehicles may compete.

You might be thinking, "Right. Big, slow, smelly diesels. Competing even! How droll." How about a diesel-powered pickup truck in street trim that yanks a 30,000 pound sled down a 300 foot track in 13 seconds? Or a 7,000 pound, fullsize, four wheel drive, crewcab pickup truck driven on the street every day running the 1/4 mile in 10.6 seconds at 125 MPH? How about a 360 CI, straight-six diesel, daily driver pickup truck laying down 800HP and 1500 lb-ft of torque on the dyno?

Nope, today's diesel engines are anything but slow. And how about a Duramax that compete in both sled pulling and drag racing and tows the team trailer and backup tow vehicle? And this is just the beginning. Wouldn't you like to be there the first time a Cummins 5.9L diesel-powered rail dragster runs the 1/4 mile in 6 seconds @ 210 MPH? When a diesel-powered 5500 pound streetdriven pickup truck first runs a 9 second 1/4 mile?

DHRA Diesel Nationals gather diesel motorsport competitors, suppliers and enthusiasts in one location. The drag racing and sled pulling events provide an arena for diesel motorsports professionals to compete for points and prizes. The dynamometer provides an event in which spectators can participate by dynoing their diesel pickup trucks.

Of course, we haven't forgotten those folks for whom mud or a streak of oil on their trucks is just intolerable; they will compete in the Show 'n' Shine for prizes and trophies. Then there is the Vendors' Fairway, where manufacturers, vendors and service providers can display and sell their wares and talents. Lest we forget, there's a mile of fencing, grandstands and even trash cans that can hold banners and other advertising to communicate messages to a very targeted audience.

To make these events happen, we need racers, sponsors, vendors, manufacturers, employees and volunteers. If you still aren't sure about this concept of diesel motorsports, please give us a call or attend an upcoming DHRA event, You will be converted!
